Active Start (Under 6)

Active Start introduces our little ones to the game of soccer through playful games. It is available to children who would like to learn the basic elements and develop their soccer skills. The program is overseen by the club head coach and executed by our talented youth coaching team.

The indoor season runs from November to April with registration opening in October, and the outdoor season runs from June to August with registration opening in April.

Recreational Program (Youth)

Learn and love the game of soccer in a positive and fun environment! This program is for players that want to have fun, be active, and develop their skills including a lifelong love of the game. Weekly sessions will take place at the Feildian Grounds and include games. Players who want to train more can register for the soccer camp mornings. The program is overseen by the club head coach and executed by our talented youth coaching team.

This program runs from June to August with registration opening in April.

Metro Program (Youth)

The Metro League is for club teams in the Metro region (Feildians, St. John's, Mt. Pearl, Paradise, CBS, PC-SP, CBN, Southern Shore and Burin). Metro League games are scheduled during the outdoor season and teams train during both the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Feildians supports and encourages our multi-sport athletes. We try and accommodate the most common clashes when scheduling our practices and we do not have strict attendance requirements as a pre-requisite to play with the club.  We do, however, expect our players to show commitment to the club and their team.

We understand that players may miss practices and games due to vacations, sickness or family circumstances. Outside of this, Metro players are expected to make all team training sessions and Metro games. Training through the winter is for players who anticipate playing in the summer. If clashes make attendance difficult, we will work with you to find a solution.

Players are encouraged to attend the optional summer morning camps to develop their skills & friendships.

New Direction for U12/ U13 for the 2026 Season

The Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association has unveiled a new direction for their U12 and U13 Leagues. There will now be a Lighthouse league (formerly Premier League) and a Compass league (formerly Championship League) for both U12 and U13 age groups. These U12/U13 leagues are designed with a strong focus on player development, ensuring every player is given the right balance of challenge, opportunity, and support.

The 2026 U12 and U13 leagues are designed to balance competition and development through a two-tiered system:

  • Lighthouse League: for players at a higher stage of development.
  • Compass League: for players building fundamentals.

Clubs may register only ONE (1) Lighthouse team per age group, but may register multiple Compass teams.

Player Selection

The process for player selection for Lighthouse and Compass teams will follow Canada Soccer’s Grassroots Standards. Teams will not be named until near the end of our winter training season. More information will be forthcoming on the U12/U13 player selection process.

Game Format / Rules

All games will be 9v9 (including goalkeepers).

U13: Follows FIFA Laws of the Game, modified only for team size and goal size.

U12: Follows small-sided rules from 2025.

Game length: 60 minutes (max 2 games/day/team).

Substitutions: Unlimited, at any stoppage.

Playing time: Coaches must aim for at least 50% per player across the season.

Player development: All players should experience all positions, including goalkeeper.

Monthly Reset: A monthly roster reset system allows clubs to move players to ensure appropriate challenge levels. New rosters take effect on the 1st of the following month.

Rising Stars Tournament

During the season (May - Mid August) scores will be kept but not published. The season results will be tracked to help with the seeding of teams for the culminating Rising Stars Tournament on August 28-31st. Scores and results will be public for this end of season tournament that will have medals and trophies. Rosters will be set for this competitive event that will be a showcase of growth and development of our U12 and U13 players.

PYL Teams (Youth)

The Premier Youth League (PYL) is a province-wide club league with U15 and U17 age divisions. This is for players who have stronger technical & athletic ability and heightened interest in the sport. Players are selected for PYL teams after try-outs that happen in the fall of each year.

Feildians supports & encourages our multi-sport athletes. We try and accommodate the most likely clashes when scheduling our practices & do not have strict attendance requirements as a pre-requisite to play with the club.  Many of our PYL players also play competitive hockey, volleyball, basketball, baseball etc.

Typical PYL players are highly motivated.

We understand that players may miss practices and games due to vacations, sickness or family circumstances. Outside of this, it is expected that they attend all training sessions & games, with team managers being notified of all absences.
